The main coverage requirement is that the insurance must cover the 10 minimum essential benefits, such as preventive services,
Prescription Drug Coverage,
Maternity
Newborn care.
For Californians to be in compliance with the mandate, they’ll need to be enrolled on a qualified health plan, a plan that meets the government’s requirements for minimum essential coverage.
You can find the following types of plans:
Individual and Family Healthcare Plans:
Since the passing of the Affordable Care Act, all health insurers are required to meet minimum essential requirements with their healthcare plans. This means they must provide coverage for things such as hospital stays, emergency care, preventative and wellness care, and prescription drugs.
These plans are ACA compliant and offer high-quality, affordable coverage to everyone, regardless of pre-existing medical conditions.
Short-Term Plans:
Short-term health plans offer medical coverage for a short period. They vary in length and are an excellent option for people looking to fill healthcare insurance gaps, people who want to cover special events and those who missed the open enrollment period. These plans are not ACA compliant and won’t protect you from huge medical bills or tax penalties.
Medicare:
Medicare is granted to qualifying individuals over the age of 65 who suffer from chronic illnesses or disabilities.
Medicaid:
Medi-Cal is offered to individuals and families with low household incomes.
